The Job
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join the team and provide vital support to students in schools. In this role, you will:

• Assess students’ physical, sensory, and cognitive needs, and develop tailored intervention plans to support their development.
• Provide therapy to students with a range of special educational needs (SEN), including physical disabilities, sensory processing difficulties, and developmental delays.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to integrate occupational therapy strategies into the students’ daily activities and lessons.
• Deliver individual or small group therapy sessions aimed at improving students’ fine motor skills, coordination, sensory regulation, and independence in daily tasks.
• Support the development of sensory rooms, resources, and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Provide guidance and training to school staff on how to support students’ physical and sensory needs within the classroom environment.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, adapting therapy plans as required, and provide regular reports to parents and relevant professionals.
• Work collaboratively with external agencies, such as health services, to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

Could This Be Right For You? Are You…

Qualified: Hold a relevant Occupational Therapy qualification (e.g., degree in Occupational Therapy) and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Experienced: Have experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, or a desire to develop your career in this area.
Skilled: Demonstrate a strong understanding of child development, sensory processing, and the therapeutic interventions required to support students with SEN.
Personable: You are empathetic, adaptable, and passionate about making a difference in students' lives. You are able to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Desirable Skills:
• Experience working in an educational or multi-disciplinary setting, supporting children with a wide range of SEN.
• Knowledge of various sensory integration techniques and interventions.
• Ability to create and adapt resources to support students' sensory and physical needs.
• Excellent communication skills and experience of working collaboratively with school staff and external agencies.
