Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher

We are recruiting for a number of SEN Teachers to join schools across London who are dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our schools focus on creating a supportive and empowering environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN.
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to support the development and progress of students.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular reports to parents and guardians.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, supporting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Provide pastoral support and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and other staff to ensure the successful implementation of SEN provisions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development to enhance teaching practices and SEN knowledge.
Person Specification:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential.
  • A strong understanding of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Experience working with children with a range of SEN, including learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and physical disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students, parents, and colleagues.
  • The ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and needs.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive, positive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with external agencies when necessary.
Experience Needed:
  • Previous experience teaching in a mainstream or specialist SEN setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and working with other professionals to support students' learning and development.
  • Knowledge and experience of using a range of SEN resources, strategies, and interventions.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and understanding how to tailor teaching approaches to best support them.
